Event:  Prince Among Slaves, film screening and dialogue

Prince Among Slaves is an award-winning PBS documentary about the life of Abdul Rahman Ibrahima Sori, a West African prince enslaved in the American South for 40 years, who by near providential circumstances negotiates his freedom with elites and power-holders of his time.  This film was produced by Unity Productions Foundation.

Prior to the film screening, Ilaysah Shabazz, author, activist and daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, will speak about her commitment to empowering and educating youth.

* Mos Def who narrarates the film will not be present at the event.

A panel discussion and Q & A session will follow the film.  Details forthcoming.

This is a free event open to the public, and we especially encourage young adults to attend.

IMPORTANT –

This event is general admission and limited capacity.  Priority seating will go to those with Eventbrite confirmation tickets. One ticket per person. Priority seating will begin 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Non-ticket holders will be allowed entrance at the scheduled start time. The Rialto Center reserves the right to refuse admission based on capacity.
